I wrote once I am working on a personal project and for that matter the blog-post's will be less frequent. I will announce it when the time has come. Well, the time has come right now. For the last few months I worked on a photo book about Namibia. A book which carries the name "NAMIBIA - A TALE OF SAND AND WIND". To publish this book I will launch a Kickstarter-campaign on August 14th 2018 - stay tuned for that! But I wanted to let you already know about it and tell you a bit more about all if you read further.
After returning from Namibia, back in November 2016, I created a personal photo book. I'll do this after every larger journey and show that around to friends and family, sometimes also to clients. Many, almost everyone, asked me the same question: "Is this for sale?". I had denied that every time. After getting the same response over and over again, I started to think about it and finally came up with a project to address all this questions.
I went trough all of my thousands of images that I shot in Namibia and started to select possible picks for a book. After I had a selection of about hundert images I started to post process them completely new, retouched them and worked on them to bring out the details and colors.
After that I put together a first test-book. I had to decide on a size, material, length and form of the book, I had to create a cover, write some texts and layout all. It was okay, but it had a lot of thing's I wasn't particular happy with it. I reorganized, re-edited and wrote the text completely new. I also decided to add some wildlife-image to it, which I wasn't sure about it at first. Than I ordered the newer version again. And I was way more happy then before.
Then all texts had to be corrected, a few little details adjusted and the book was finished so far.
Now I had a book, almost ready for print. But how should I do that? Printing this books cost me thousands of dollars which I currently don't really have lying around ;) On that point I decided to go with a Kickstarter-campaign to fund my book.
I went over a few successful campaigns and figured out how mine should look like, what mine should contain and how I like to do it. Let me say this, it was almost as much work as the book itself to put together the campaign. But I will tell you more detailed about that once it's over.
I leave you with an exclusive sneak peak into the book for now. I would be more than happy if you would support me on Kickstarter from August 14th 2018 onward (there will be a new post with the link and all details right on time). Thanks a lot :)
