A few years ago I shot this nice long exposure in Las Vegas, showing "The Strip" with all the famous casinos and some cool light trails from the cars. All the different lights and colors made this image for me really good and working. Be some oppertunity I reedited the image in an complete different style. See the result by reading further.
Lets start out with the image in its first edit. It showcases all the different lights on the Las Vegas Strip during the night. The lighttrails shows how busy the city is and with the copy of the Eiffel-tower in the middle of it all it just looks kind of crazy. So Sin City is well earned in this case.
Then, inspired by a friend suggestion, I did the reedit of this image in a selective color-style. This means, you take out all colors expect one dominant one, in this case the red. But because it doesn't looked to good and the image lost a lot, I left the oranges also in the image.
This brought out the light trails and the Eiffel-Tower pretty strong, exactly what I wanted. But there are red and orange all over the image which looked distracting. So I brought the image into photoshop, copied the image and brought down all colors. Then with a mask I painted in exactly the areas which should be colorful. The result was the following image:
I am usually not the biggest fan of this kind of images. But it worked for me this time pretty okay. Because it emphasizes the most important parts of the image pretty good. And with regards of the movie, Sin City is a even more fitting name for this image now ;)
